What's actually inside cypress?

One of the major compounds commonly associated with cypress essential oil is α-pinene.
If that name sounds familiar, there's a reason.
Alpha-pinene is a terpene found throughout nature—particularly in coniferous plants—and contributes to the fresh, woody aroma associated with forests and evergreens.
Cypress oil can also contain other terpenes and aromatic compounds, with its exact composition varying according to species, geography, growing conditions, and distillation.
The antioxidant research
